This post is about Kelly, Jeff, and their ceiling.
I first met Kelly at 1 Hanson Place back when we were showing down in the VAULT. Her and her boyfriend, Jeff are huge fans of the Flea and were into some of the lamps I was building from plumbing pipes. Kelly took one of our Brooklyn Cream cards and sent a lovely email inquiring if I would make a surprise chandelier for Jeff’s birthday in May. I was very excited at the idea and after a few email exchanges, and clandestine Flea visits(Jeff was always trailing from a safe distance), we came up with a plan.
As Jeff’s birthday inched closer, Kelly was trying to think of clever ways to get him to the Brooklyn Flea to collect his surprise. Originally we had talked about installing the light while he was out, but the Flea pick-up seemed like it would be more fun.
In the end Kelly decided to tell Jeff something special was waiting for him, but he would have to find it himself. His only clue was that a red bow would be attached to the gift. We upped the ante by getting more than half a dozen of our booth neighbors to plant red bows on items in their booth to throw Jeff off of the trail. It all worked out perfectly and you can see it all documented by the talented Diana below.
Kelly, thanks for letting me make something cool for your home, and Jeff, Happy Birthday!
Also thanks to all of the vendors who were willing to have red bows in their booths without even asking why. You guys are the best!
And now for something completely different……
Thanks for looking and have a nice week. Ideally this sentence would appear on the bottom of this post, but in WordPressLand one false move can ruin hours of hard work. So my goodbye will bittersweetly remain right here. Take care, Jon.
